[TYMOWSKI Joseph - portrait photograph]. [not after 1863]. Photograph form. 9.3x5.9 cm on original backing form. 9.8x6.2 cm, by Karol Beyer in Warsaw.
Portrayed portrayed in full figure, standing supporting his left elbow against a column. Photo pasted on original cardboard backing. On the back an advertising vignette of the establishment printed: "Karol Beyer Photographic Establishment in Warsaw Krak. Przedm No 389." Very good condition.
J. Tymowski (1791-1871) - state counsellor, chamberlain to the royal court of Nicholas I Romanov in 1830, official of the administration of the Kingdom of Poland, supporter of the settlement with Russia; from 1815 a chamberlain, from 1819 a chamberlain of the Russian imperial court and from 1820 chief director of the chancellery at the Secretariat of State of the Kingdom of Poland, from 1824 chief secretary of the General Assembly of the Council of State, secretary of the Provisional Government of the Kingdom of Poland (1831-1832), from 1833 secretary of state, from 1855 member of the Administrative Council and from 1856 member of the Russian Council of State; member of the Council of State of the Congress Kingdom, from 1842-1855 also president of the Bank of Poland. President of the Heroldia of the Kingdom of Poland since March 1857, secret counselor, senator. Awarded the Order of the White Eagle, Order of Saint Vladimir 2nd class, Order of Saint Anne 1st class with crown, badge of XXV years of impeccable service. Awarded the Order of Saint Stanislaus 1st class in 1829 and 2nd class in 1820 (Wikipedia).
K. Beyer (1818-1877) - one of the greatest individuals in the history of Polish photography. He was a collector, amateur scientist and patriotic activist in the period 1861-1863, which he paid with exile to Siberia, where, of course, he also took photographs. He opened his first establishment in 1844, and in 1857 moved to premises at 389 Krakowskie Przedmieście St., where he operated until around 1863. The main specialty of the establishment was portrait photography, especially appointment photography.
