Brigadier is portrayed in 3/4 figure, wearing legion uniform with maciejówka in left hand, right hand supported on saber. In the lower right corner an imprint: "Kuczynski Zakład Artyst. Fotograficzny Kraków Rynek Pałac Spiski". On the back in ink inscription: "1916 Legions". Minor stains, overall good condition.
J. Kuczynski (1875-1952) - professional photographer. Member of the Senior Chapter of the Polish Photoclub. A pupil of J. Mien and J. Sebald. In 1907 he opened a fine art photography establishment at the market square in Cracow in the Spiski Palace. The establishment was very popular with the locals, especially artists. In the luxurious interior of the establishment, Małopolska bohemians (J. Malczewski, X. Dunikowski) gathered. Kuczynski's photographs are compositionally well thought out, chiaroscuro effects play the main role.
