[Lviv] Hetman's Bulwarks. Photograph size: 30 x 23,7 cm. Print on albumen paper. On the reverse side description in pencil and ownership stamp. Visible paper creases.
Hetman's Bulwarks in Lviv - one of the main promenades of Lviv, running from Mickiewicz Square to the present Lviv Opera House. It consisted of two streets: Hetmanska Street and Karol Ludwik Street, separated by a strip of greenery - flower beds, decorative bushes and trees.
The name of Hetmanska Street and Hetman's Bulwarks came from the monument placed there in the late 17th century to Grand Crown Hetman Stanislaw Jabłonowski, an outstanding commander and defender of Lviv against the Tatars in 1695. The monument was destroyed by Soviet authorities after World War II. [note in part after wikipedia.pl].
