The portrayed person is shown in bust. In the lower right corner of the photo an imprint: "T. Szajnok". On the lower margin of the photo a pencil inscription: "Karol Lewakowski". Photo glued on original cardboard backing. On the back an advertising vignette of the establishment printed: "Teodor Szajnok Photographed in Lviv on Pojezuickiye Street under L. 174 2/4 opposite the English Hotel "and not very clearly in pencil: "Karol Lewakowski". K. Lewakowski ? (1836-1912) - lawyer, politician, member of the Austrian Council of State. Member of the Lviv Bench; in 1863 in the Expeditionary Commission of the Committee of Eastern Galicia; participant in battles in the units of L. Czechowski, M. Borelowski and J. Zalplachta; threatened with arrest by the Austrian authorities, fled to Romania in the spring of 1864; returned to Galicia in 1880. (Biogram for: L. T. Szajnok (1833-1894) - a popular Lviv photographer. Before 1862 he ran an establishment after Chołoniewski at 174 2/4 Pojezuicka St., from 1867 in his own newly built house at 727 2/4 Meyer St. In 1863 he photographed participants in the uprising. He was the author of the manual "Photographic Guide for the Use of Professional Photographers and Enthusiasts" published in 1893 in Berlin. Between 1868 and 1869 he published two albums of photographs (Album krasiczyńskie and Album żółkiewskie) for the first time in Poland hand-printed in the form of light-prints.
