People's Theater (Teatr Ludowy ) - Cracow theater, located in the Nowa Huta district at 34 Teatralny estate, operating since December 3, 1955. The theater building was designed by Janusz Ingarden and Marta Ingarden and Jan Dąbrowski. The theater was intended to be the chamber stage of the Nowa Huta theater, which according to the plans was to be built on the south side of Central Square, and during the construction it was known as the Chamber Theater.It began operations with the premiere of the play Krakowiacy i Górale by Wojciech Boguslawski. The theater was run by Krystyna Skuszanka (director) and Jerzy Krasowski (director) and Jozef Szajna (stage designer). The activity of the People's Theater was preceded in Nowa Huta by the amateur, worker's theater Nurt, managed by the writer Jan Kurczab. This scene was established as an amateur group in 1952.In May 1953. "Nurt" was given the status of a professional theater. It operated until February 1954.The theater quickly gained great popularity among the residents of Cracow: the audience fill level at performances was 81% as early as 1956. The People's Theater also stages plays at the Stage Under the Town Hall in the Town Hall Tower building on Market Square 1. Established in 2004. The Carpentry Stage is the People's Theater's youngest stage. It is located on the first floor of the backstage building at 23 Teatralny St. It owes its name to the theatrical carpentry workshop previously located there (Wikipedia).
