Portrait of the sitter shown in bust, with a piece of chain seen under his frock coat. Gilded inscription on the lower margin of the backing: "Piotr Mieczkowski in Lviv." Photo glued on original cardboard backing. On the back a gilded advertising vignette of the establishment printed: "Photographic Establishment of Piotr Mieczkowski L 5 Panska Street in Lviv" and a handwritten ink inscription: "Prof. Dr. Longin Feigel Lemberg". Edges slightly scuffed, otherwise very good condition.
L. Feigel (1845-1893) - participant in the January Uprising fighting under Czachowski and Goluchowski (he took part in all battles under Czachowski). He later became a doctor, graduated from the Jagiellonian University in 1872, and was. among other things, assistant to Erich Koch (discoverer of mycobacteria). He then moved to Lviv, where, among other things, he was a court physician of the Land Court, an associate and full professor of forensic medicine. He was the author. of some fifty publications.
P. Mieczkowski (1849-1906) - in 1872-1887 owned an establishment at 5 Panska Street in Lviv. His atelier used infrequent decoration of photographs by gilding the slanted frame and gilded inscriptions. The next owner of the establishment at 5 Panska Street was Dawid Mazur.
