Lot description
[HEILDELBERG - view of the castle - view photograph]. [l. 80s of the 19th century]. Photograph form. 5.8x9 cm on original backing form. 6.2x10.1 cm, by Franz Richard in Heldelberg.
Depicts a view of the Gothic-Renaissance castle dating from 1225, which became a symbol of German Romanticism in the 19th century. Today the castle houses a unique Apothecary Museum and the world's largest wine barrel, the so-called Great Barrel. Photo pasted on original cardboard backing. On the back an advertising vignette: "Franz Richard Hof-Photograph Seiner Königlischen Hoheit des Grossherzogs Friedrich von Baden auf dem Schloss zu Heilderberg" and an inscription in pencil: "Schloss Altan". Local stains, good overall condition.
