Photo from a series of portraits taken by the artist of her father, the famous pianist Artur Rubinstein (1887-1982), in New York, at the Drake Hotel, in 1979. The Rubinsteins stayed at the hotel in the 1970s while hosting longer stays in New York; their permanent address and home was in Paris on Ave Foch.
On the back of the photo, the artist wrote: (dark background, smile), among other things. This is one of the last large format prints from this series of photographs. In most of them - there were perhaps seven shots - Rubinstein is smiling.
