Portrait of the sitter in bust, looking straight ahead. On the lower margin of the backing gilt print: A. and T. Mroczkowski Tarnów". Photo pasted on original cardboard backing. On the back gilt advertising imprint: "Fotogr. artyst. Aleks. and Tad. Mroczkowski in Tarnów, Kaczkowskiego St." and identifying inscription in pencil: "Stanisław Doliński". Stains in places.
Aleksander (1850-1927) and Tadeusz (1863-1905) Mroczkowski - brothers, photographers who ran a photography shop in Tarnów, 5 Kaczkowskiego Street, in the premises left by photographer Julian Rys, between 1892 and 1897. Aleksander was involved in retouching and coloring photographs. Tadeusz learned the trade from Walery Rzewuski in Cracow. In 1899-1905 Tadeusz ran the establishment, and after his death in 1905 his wife Emilia, also studying with master Rzewuski, took over the running. Later their son Wladyslaw (1898-1983) ran the business for fifty years.
