Portrayed person shown in bust. Photo glued on original cardboard backing. In the lower margin under the photo printed: "Photo by Jan Mieczkowski in Warsaw". On the back an advertising vignette printed: "JMieczkowski in Warsaw Corner of Senatorska and Miodowa Ner 496" and identifying inscription in ink: "Tytus Dembowski (1880)" and in pencil: "Tytus of Dębowa Góra [1824-1889], landowner, owner of estates in the Plock gubernia and son of Ignacy [1789-1861] officer in the Polish army and deputy to the National Sejm. In 1863 he married Adela née Lanckorońska". Good condition.
J. Mieczkowski (1830-1889) - Warsaw photographer. One of the greatest and best photographers of the 19th century, competing with Karol Beyer, itinerant daguerreotypist, outstanding portraitist (for his portraits he received an honorable mention at the General Exhibition in London in 1862). Awarded at numerous photographic salons in Europe and Asia. He opened his first establishment in 1847, and from 1861 the company was located at the corner of Senatorska and Miodowa Streets. In 1887 he took a photograph of Titus Chałubiński and Helena Modrzejewska.
