Photographic reproduction of a drawing presented during the first great exhibition of art on the subject of legions, "Polish Legions", held in III and IV 1916 at the Palace of Fine Arts in Cracow. Photographs of works of art (allegorical-symbolic works, portraits, landscapes, genre scenes, battle scenes, sculptures) created by artists (painters, graphic artists, sculptors) - legion soldiers, about one hundred and eighty of whom served in the ranks of the Polish Legions, were made by Antoni Pawlikowski, commissioned by the Polish War Archive, which ordered full photographic documentation of the objects from a Cracow photography company.
Photo pasted on cardboard backing. On the reverse, an inscription in pencil: "p. Angelus"(Alina Angelusowa (1923-2019) - daughter of the colonel). Good condition.
W. Belina-Prażmowski (1888-1938) - colonel of cavalry of the Polish Army and founder of the reborn Polish cavalry. In VIII 1914 he created the first cavalry squadron. He was the organizer and commander of the 1st Cavalry Regiment of the Polish Legions, the so-called "Belina's", at the head of which he passed the entire combat route of the Legions. Belina's uhlans took part in the battles of the First World War, becoming famous for, among other things, the famous charge on Russian regiments at Rokitna in June 1915. In the spring of 1914, he was promoted to the rank of rotamaster, at the beginning of 1917 he was promoted to the rank of major, and in II 1919 he was promoted to the rank of colonel. After the First World War, the founder of the 1st Cavalry Brigade. After going into civilian life, he settled in Cracow. Between 1931 and 1933 he was president of the city of Cracow. Between 1933 and 1937, governor of Lviv. Decorated many times.
