"Resurrection of Poland - 1918". - photographic reproduction pasted on cardboard. Photograph on albumen paper.
Overall dimensions: 23 x 16.5 cm.
The image depicts an allegory of Poland - a woman dressed in royal robes rising from her throne in a prophetic gesture. Above the personification of Poland floats the image of Our Lady of Czestochowa with the figures of the Holy Patrons of Poland (including St. Stanislaus, bishop and martyr). On the right stands Jozef Pilsudski with a white and red flag, and by his side is a pacholya in the costume of a krakowiak handing Poland a mace and an apple - a symbol of power. The whole picture is complemented by the figure of a peasant in a dress offering a baby and a group composed of representatives of the nobility and the Polish Army.
Wladyslaw Barwicki (1865-1933) - Polish painter, sculptor and poet.
