The portrait shows 3/4 of the figure. On the lower margin of the photo handwritten dedication by the artist, dated November 8, 1881. 8 XI 1881. on lower margin gilded print: "'Konrad' in Warsaw". Photo pasted on original cardboard backing with gold border. On the back an advertising vignette of the establishment printed: "Fotografija Artystyczna 'Konrad' w Warszawie ul. Erywańska (Zielony Square) No 8". Corners cut off, otherwise good condition.
S. Barcewicz (1858-1929 - violinist, conductor and pedagogue. One of the most outstanding Polish virtuosos. He was concertmaster of the Warsaw Opera in 1885, conductor of the Warsaw Opera in 1886, and director of the Music Institute in Warsaw in 1910-1918. He educated a whole generation of outstanding Polish violinists, including Mieczyslaw Karlowicz.
