Biography
Photographer, painter, organizer of numerous photographic exhibitions. Since 1953 member of the Poznan Photographic Society. Since 1962 member of ZPAF, and since 1963 member of ZPAP. In the 1950s his photographic works were maintained in the convention of socialist realism. Since 1956 interested in abstraction. His photography comes close to graphic techniques. In 1958, he was the only Pole to participate in the exhibition Subjective fotografie in Essen. Also in 1958, together with Zdzislaw Beksinski and Jerzy Lewczynski, he formed an informal group, which in 1959 presented a famous exhibition described by the critic Alfred Ligocki as Antiphotography. From 1962 to 1974 there was a break in his work. In the late 1980s he returned to artistic activity working on his own technique, which is a synthesis of photography and painting.
