Jakub Zucker - born in Radom, spent his childhood in Palestine. He studied at the "Becalel" art school in Jerusalem. After World War I, he settled in Paris, where he continued his studies at the Académie Julien and Académie Colarossi. In 1922 he moved to New York, which became - alternately with Paris - his place of residence. He made a number of trips, including to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Israel. He spent the period of World War II in the United States; in 1947 he settled in Arcueil, near Paris. Beginning in 1928, he participated in the Parisian Salons - the Autumn Salon and the Tuileries. He repeatedly exhibited his works in New York. The artist's work was discussed by C. Roger Marx in a monograph published in 1969 in Paris. The thematic range of Zucker's paintings included landscapes, portraits, genre scenes and still lifes. The formation of his artistic attitude was influenced by the art of M. Utrill and Ch. Soutine.
