A separate place in Janowski's work is occupied by Legion themes. During World War I, the artist took part in the battles of the First and Second Brigades of the Polish Legions. During his service, he created mostly watercolors and drawings, and less often oil paintings, depicting scenes of combat and camp life. He later presented them at six Legion exhibitions. Among them was the composition In the Camp near Piaseczno, created in 1916 during the Volhynia campaign. In museum collections and on the art market one also encounters photographs from the camp near Piaseczna, which the artist took at the time.
