Karl WAGNER [08.05.1839 - 15.08.1923] - father of Cornelius and Juliette.
From 1854 to 1864 - studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Ludwig des Coudres (1820-1878), a German portrait and history painter. After his studies, he settled in Düsseldorf. Initially, he painted historical genre scenes extremely popular at the time, related to the theme of the Franco-German War (1870-71), such as. "Bismarck's meeting with Napoleon." The artist's works also include portraits of Grand Duke Karl Ludwig of Baden, Kaiser Wilhelm I and II and Bismarck, among others.
His works are in the collections of the National Museum in Berlin, the Ruhmeshalle Barmen in Wuppertal Town Hall in Stolberg and in private collections.
