[HERBERT Zbigniew]. Postcard with handwritten correspondence from Zbigniew Herbert to Zdzislaw Najder in Warsaw, no date (XII, late 1970s?).
Color postcard with a reproduction of a painting by A. Altdorfer depicting the Holy Family in a stable. The poet informs: "I'm glad that this damn year is passing, maybe the New Year will be better." He congratulates Najder on completing his work on Conrad's biography and asks: "What are you planning? What new stone will you push, Sisyphus?" He extends Christmas and New Year's wishes. Signature: "your Zbigniew." Inscribed in the header with the poet's Berlin address, postcard mailed from Warsaw, with Polish stamp. Very good condition.
Z. Herbert (1924-1998) - poet, essayist, playwright, author of radio plays, serious contender for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Knight of the Order of the White Eagle. Contrary to what we read in "Who's Who in Poland" (War. 1989), he was not a recipient of the International Lenin Prize.
