Konrad CZARNOCKI
1876 Kloczew - 1967 Zakopane
Painter, Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Jozef Mehoffer and Jan Stanislawski, then in Paris. He exhibited before World War I in Warsaw and St. Petersburg. In 1919-25 he held the position of attaché for cultural affairs at the Polish embassy in Stockholm and at that time sought (unsuccessfully) the Nobel Prize for Stefan Żeromski. In 1925 Żeromski dedicated his then-published novel "Przedwiośnie" to Czarnocki. In 1939 he settled in Zakopane and took up drawing and painting (in tempera) landscapes and monuments of folk architecture.
