Carl Gustav RODDE
1830 Danzig - 1906 Groß-Lichterfelde
German landscape painter. He began his painting studies under Johann K. Schultz at the School of Arts and Crafts in Danzig, then studied for five years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf under the eminent landscape painter Johann Wilhelm Schirmer and Hans Gude. In 1857 he visited Munich, and from 1858 to 1861 he studied further in Italy. In 1861 he settled in Weimar, later moving to Berlin. He painted atmospheric landscapes, especially fond of Italian landscapes.
