oil, cardboard, size 30 x 43 cm, signed l. bottom "Z. Przebindowski"
Bound to Krakow by the ties of his artistic family, Zdzislaw Przebindowski (1902 - 1986), a student of Frok Pautsch, honored at his alma mater Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, after numerous peregrinations throughout Europe, returned and settled in Krakow in 1937. From 1938 to 1972, he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in the painting studio and an active member of art associations and organizations. Among the numerous subjects he undertook (portraits, landscapes, still lifes), he is known for his genre scenes of village life, depicted in landscape and in a synthetic, simplified way presenting the work and occupations of peasants. In the work on display, we see them on the bank of a river, looking towards the other bank - where they probably came to swim and water the horses accompanying them.
