Zdzislaw Kraśnik was born in 1881 in Gorzew near Sierpc, and died in 1964. He studied at the Warsaw Drawing Class under Adam Badowski and Jan Kauzik. He first exhibited his works in 1914 at the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts. The artist won numerous awards for his work. Since 1937 Zdzislaw Krasnik was a member of the Watercolorists Group. During the Warsaw Uprising, the painter lost his studio and most of his artistic output. He was also displaced from Warsaw. He did not return to the capital until 1949. Zdzislaw Krasnik primarily used the technique of watercolor, often painting on a wet base, achieving an unusual softness and fluidity of contour. Important aspects of the artist's works were picturesqueness and rendering the character and mood of the landscapes and city views depicted. The painter also liked to recreate historical architecture with special care. Less frequently, he produced portraits, genre scenes and still lifes with flowers.
