| A painting from the collection of Pawel Martin, a lawyer in pre-war Torun, later in Gdansk, purchased by him in 1938 from the Cracow antiquarian and collector, Eugeniusz Jakubowicz. From 2006-2022 it was on deposit at the National Museum in Gdansk. Exhibited: "Painting of the Three Kossaks," Pomorskie Military Museum in Bydgoszcz, 10.11.2009-31.03.2010. Documents attached to the painting: - list of installments to be paid, together with a statement by Eugeniusz Jakubowicz on the authenticity of the painting - confirmation of the acquisition of the painting by Pawel Martin - letter from Pawel Martin to Wojciech Kossak asking for confirmation of authenticity - letter with envelope from Wojciech Kossak with confirmation of authorship - Wojciech Kossak's visiting card with a promise to deliver the painting immediately - 2 photographs - conservator's opinion of Marzena Klossowska from the National Museum in Gdansk "He had a great sense of observation and an excellent memory - inherited from his father Juliusz, thanks to which in his artistic workshop he almost never had to use sketches, sketchbooks, preparatory notes. Fidelity and evocative presentation of events, the ability to superbly capture silhouettes, especially of the horses depicted, sometimes in complex shots, coexisted many times with superbly painted landscape."
