Wladyslaw JAROCKI

Painter, graphic artist, educator; graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute. From 1902 to 1906 he studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts under L. Wyczółkowski and J. Mehoffer, and then at the Académie Julian in Paris. From 1921 he was a professor at the Krakow Academy, from 1924 he was the chief editor of the magazine Fine Arts, organizer of exhibitions and president of the Krakow TPSP. He painted genre scenes, portraits and landscapes. He was also involved in printmaking.
The offered painting has many parallels with Jarocki's lithograph "Jordan II" published in the album "Autolithographs of W. Jarocki and K. Sichulski (Lviv, 1912).
