Wilibald Wex - a German landscape painter - was originally a forester. In time, he began studying at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under Richard Zimmerman and settled permanently in Munich in 1858. From 1866 he participated in exhibitions of the Kunstverein there, and also exhibited at Munich's Galspalast. He is known primarily as a painter of mountain landscapes.
