Wilhelm Wilk - Ossecki (1892 -1958) is a painter, printmaker, museologist, educator, member of many associations and art groups with uncommon creative activity in the interwar period. Educated at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts in 1910-14 under Jozef Pankiewicz and, until 1918, Wojciech Weiss, he supplemented his museum studies in Vienna, after which he became curator of the Wilanów collection. Active in the Poznan art community during the interwar period, he left a legacy of numerous prints as well as oil works, landscapes and portraits. The one presented here, depicting a girl with a jug, is inspired by Mickiewicz's ballads and undoubtedly depicts Alina with a jug of raspberries. It dates from the early period of his career and was exhibited at the Poznan TPSP.
