Teodor Axentowicz (1859-1938) Enchanted, ca. 1900-1905.
Pastel, paper; approx. 65 x 48.5 cm. Signed: in the middle on the book. On the reverse, on the cardboard of the binding in the l.g. corner, stamp of the store of Regina Aleksandrowicz, Kraków Basztowa 12.
A subject present in the artist's work around 1900. Several portraits depicting a bespectacled, red-haired woman are known in his oeuvre (some exclusively from postcards). The offered pastel is the closest in depiction to the "Enthusiast" figure from the collection of the Silesian Museum in Katowice, which probably depicts the artist's wife Iza, née Giełguda.
