Biography
Studied drawing from an early age - initially taught by his brother Joseph, later artistic supervision was provided by painters S. Heymann and A. Malinowski. In 1869-71 he studied at the Warsaw Drawing Class under W. Gerson, R. Hadziewicz and A. Kaminski. He continued his painting studies in Vienna from 1873 - 78; during his studies he worked as a decorator at the court opera house. After returning to Poland, he taught at the School of Fine Arts in the studio of Jan Matejko. In 1883 he received a scholarship to go to Munich, and in 1897 he moved to Berlin. He exhibited very rarely - at home he exhibited several times in Warsaw and Krakow. He painted small historical and genre paintings, referring to Dutch painting of the 17th century.
