Biography
He began his artistic studies in Lviv under the sculptor Leonard Marconi, then from 1883-1888 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow, under the direction of Władysław Łuszczkiewicz, Florian Cynk, Leopold Loeffler and Jan Matejko, among others. In 1888 he went to Munich and studied under Alexander Wagner at the Academy there. He traveled to Italy and Paris, and settled in Krakow upon his return. In oil and watercolor he painted urban views, mainly of Cracow, portraits, genre and historical scenes, fantasy and religious compositions. Among his best-known representations are Krakow vedutas, among which are often silhouettes of the Sigismund Chapel, the Wawel Royal Castle, the Garden House at St. Barbara's Church or the Florian Gate. He was also involved in illustration and sculpture.
