oil, cardboard, size 34 x 50 cm, signed and dated l. d. "St. Daczyński 1929", on the reverse - title and "Zakopane 1929" in the author's hand.
Educated at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow, painter and designer of applied art Stanislaw Daczynski (1856 - 1930) studied under Franciszek Szynalewski, Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz, Florian Cynk and finally Jan Matejko. He was associated with the School of Ceramic Industry in Kolomyia as a drawing teacher. In his work he often returns to themes from the Hutsul region - whether in landscapes or genre scenes. He has participated in numerous exhibitions at TPSP in Krakow and Lviv. Like most artists of his generation, he also found his way to Zakopane - from where the Tatra forester presented here is shown against a background of snow-covered and sunlit peaks.
