Tadeusz Rutowski (1852-1918) - politician, economist, lawyer, writer. From 1905 he was vice-president of Lviv, taking special care of the development of the infrastructure of the rapidly growing city. During the Russian occupation, he served as mayor of Lviv. He was also a patron of the arts and a collector, as well as editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine Art. He also initiated the establishment of the Municipal Picture Gallery in Lviv.
