Stanislaw Bagienski (Warsaw, 1876 - Warsaw, 1948) - popular painter-battleman, illustrator - began his study of painting under his father Feliks Bagienski, and then studied under Wojciech Gerson at the Warsaw Drawing Class. He continued his studies at the Academy in Munich (1901-1903) and in Paris. He lived permanently in Warsaw, where, starting in 1900, he exhibited frequently at the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts. He painted genre scenes, landscapes and, above all, battle paintings glorifying the heroism of the Polish soldier. As an illustrator, he collaborated with Warsaw magazines "Tygodnik Ilustrowanym", "Świat", "Biesiada Literacka". He also illustrated books, including historical novels by Walery Przyborowski.
