An elegant lady relaxing on a boat is a strongly distinctive figure in the artist's typically marine composition. The holiday theme is emphasized by the serene aura, bathing children or sailboats visible on the horizon. The offered painting is sure to attract the attention of fans of Jaxa-Malachowski's work. Although it depicts a popular motif (resulting, incidentally, from the artist's special love of the sea), it is unconventional, both in color and composition. In 1923, the painter participated in the "Native Art" exhibition at the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In the 1920s and 1930s he regularly vacationed on the Hel Peninsula.
