Soter Jaxa-Malachowski studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow under Florian Cynk, Izydor Jablonski and Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz. From 1894 in he continued his artistic studies at the Drawing and Painting School of Stanislaw Grocholski in Munich, where he lived until 1901. The following year he returned to Poland and settled permanently in Cracow. He traveled to Italy many times. The artist's oeuvre primarily includes landscape painting. Especially seascapes and nocturnes are characteristic for Jaxa's painting work. The artist took part in many exhibitions - at TPSP in Krakow, TZSP in Warsaw, at the Krywult Salon in Warsaw, at TPSP in Lviv, in Lodz, Poznan, Lublin. Jaxy-Małachowski's works are in the collections of Polish museums and private collections.
