Simon GLÜCKLICH [1863-1943].

Born March 27, 1863 in Bielsko-Biala, died March 29, 1943 in Munich. He was the son of painter Leo Glücklich. In 1880-1890 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Leopold Carl Müller. He lived in Vienna until 1917, then moved to Munich. Of great importance for his work were two long trips: in 1890 to northern Italy and in 1920 to the Baltic Sea.

Valued as a painter of genre scenes, depictions of children, intimate nudes . His first painting, "Children's Quartet," was purchased for his collection by Emperor Franz Joseph. In 1905 Glücklich was awarded the Gold Medal at the International Art Exhibition in Munich.

Today, his works can be seen in the New Pinakothek in Munich and Hamburg's Kunsthalle, among others.
