Biography
In 1909 he began his artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius. There he met Chaim Soutine and Michel Kikoine. The friendship between the artists resulted in a joint plan to go to Paris. Krémegne went there as early as 1912 and settled in the notorious La Ruche in Montparnassie. The painter revolved among the city's artistic bohemia. He repeatedly ventured outside Paris to paint in the open air. He first visited the village of Céret in 1918, to which he often returned, and later even owned a landed estate there. He created landscapes, portraits and still lifes, in which he paid particular attention to color qualities and expressive, dynamic line.
