Painter of the 17th/18th century, Renunciaton of Earthly Love

In an interior room, a young elegant woman in a shiny white robe with a gold ribbon kneels at a table with a bright red cloak and a bowl in which flames are visible. Sadly, with a slightly bowed head, she turns to the young man holding her left hand. He is wearing a golden-yellow robe, a long blue cloak, and looks at her with his left arm outstretched, half-kneeling and a questioning expression on his face. In the sky above left, behind the cloud, God the Father, with his hand raised, probably warns the young woman of temptation. To the right is a figure of an angel in a white robe with wings, stretching a stick in his right hand to drive away the fire spewing demonic figure at his feet. Two semicircular arches in the background reveal a view of the night sky with a recognizable moon. A small white puppy watches the whole scene from the right corner.
