Michal Borucinski (Siedlce 1885 - Warsaw 1976) - in 1904-1909 he studied at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts under Kazimierz Stabrowski and Konrad Krzyzanowski. Then - until 1914 - he stayed in Germany, France and Italy; studying painting in Paris, Rome and Florence. Since 1912, he exhibited repeatedly at the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, where his works were awarded prizes, including the Gold Medal in 1926. He was co-organizer of the Institute of Art Propaganda, and took part in - organized by TOSSPO - exhibitions of Polish art abroad. He painted landscapes, portraits (images of the Hutsul people), genre scenes, as well as historical and war paintings. He was involved in decorative painting (plafond for the Supreme Court building; 1925), stained glass, and illustration (including "Ashes" by S. Żeromski). After World War II, he created a series of drawings depicting the destruction of Warsaw after the uprising. He was active in the Association of Visual Artists, and in 1956-1961 was a professor at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Boruciński's works can be found, among others, in the National Museum in Warsaw, but the largest collection of his works is kept in the museum in Siedlce, the artist's hometown.
