Oil, dicta, 29.7 x 23.5 cm, signed l.d.: M. Lachur 1955 Dorotce Maciuś.

Painter, illustrator, author of book illustrations, pioneer in the field of cartoon film. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, in the first half of the 1950s worked at the Studio of Drawing Forms in Bielsko-Biała. He participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, including the Exhibition of Young Visual Arts at the Arsenal in 1955, the International Exhibition "Ghetto" in Amsterdam, 1961. In 1961 he moves from Katowice to Warsaw. Thematically, the artist's work is significantly associated with his ideological and moral stance, he condemns the cruelty of fascism (cycles of ghetto extermination and executions), draws attention to the drama of alcoholism, prostitution. Lachur uses a dynamic, often predatory form, whose simplified drawing and sparing color brings him close to the work of Picasso. The artist's works are in the National Museum in Warsaw and the Museum of the Martyrdom of the Jews in Paris, among others.
