Leopold Pilichowski (Piła near Zadzim in Sieradz region 1869 - London 1933) - Polish painter, of Jewish origin; initially studied in Lodz with Samuel Hirszenberg, later - from 1886 - in Warsaw's Drawing Class with Wojciech Gerson. He spent the years 1887-1888 in Munich, studying at the Academy with Otto Seitz and Simon Holossy. In 1889-1890, he continued his studies at the Académie Julian in Paris. From 1894 he lived in Lodz, moved to Paris in 1904 and permanently to London in 1914. He painted portraits and scenes from the lives of Lodz workers, as well as paintings depicting Jewish customs, holidays, ceremonies and life (Sukkot, Hear Israel, Yom Kippur, Jewish Wedding). He exhibited in Cracow, Warsaw, Munich, Berlin and at the Paris Salons. His works are in the collections of Polish museums (MNK, MNW, Museum of Art in Lodz).
