Biography
He was taught the painting workshop by his father, Jacek. He studied philosophy, architecture and agronomy in Vienna during WWI. From 1917 to 1939 he lived in Zakopane (he described his memories of this period in his book "Navel of the World"). He was a member of the Podhale Art Society, and from 1929 of the "Rhythm" Association. He created his own style of unreal, vast landscapes. He painted most preferably using the watercolor technique, which allows for quick notation of painting ideas. Wartime fate threw him to America, and in 1942 he lived permanently in Montreal. He traveled extensively across the American continent. He painted landscapes, especially his favorite mountain motifs.
