He studied art at the Warsaw Drawing School under Ksawery Dunikowski and Eligiusz Niewiadomski. From 1908 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in the painting classes of professors Jozef Mehoffer, Pankiewicz and Axentowicz, who had a strong influence on Szczęsny, visible in the above painting. He graduated from the Krakow school in 1913 and had his painting studio at 19 Floriańska St. He took part in Polish and international painting exhibitions and won prizes and awards.
