Josef Mehrle German artist born April 29, 1913 in Munich. He began his educational path by studying at the Luipoldgymnasium, which he had to interrupt as a result of a difficult financial situation. With the help of his aunt, he continued his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1932. The outbreak of World War II thwarted the future artist's professional plans. He did his military service and was exiled to Siberia. He returned to Germany in 1948. He earns his first money as a writer and advertising graphic designer. He only has time for truly creative and authorial work at night. His works are characterized by simplicity of composition and forms, as well as a limited color palette.
