Artwork description:
Jerzy Kossak often took up the subject of hunting in his works.
In "Hunting par force", a group of people riding horses has been depicted in an atmospheric forest setting. The figures are accompanied by hounds. The stately trotting horses were contrasted with the scurrying dogs, which mark the direction of the hunt. In the background is a misty forest.
In the work, ochres and greens intermingle in a remarkably fluid manner, creating a unique aura of mystery, in the midst of which the clear silhouettes of the riders dominate. The painting, despite the free shaping of the solids, has a lot of detail, affecting the impression of fullness of representation and detail.
