Biography
Painter, printmaker and educator. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow - painting under Florian Cynk, Jan Stanislawski and Leon Wyczolkowski (1902-1909), and graphic design under Józef Pankiewicz (1905-1906 and 1911-1912). He spent the years 1904-1905 in Italy. From 1910 he taught students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, initially as an instructor, later as head of the graphics course, and from 1929 as a professor in the Graphic Arts Department. He belonged to artistic groups: "Five" "Color" and "Zwornik". In 1937 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, and received a gold medal at the international exhibition "Art and Technology" in Paris. He participated in numerous exhibitions showing his paintings and prints. As a student of Stanislawski, he painted mainly landscapes. As a graphic artist, he was involved in lithography and metal techniques (copperplate, etching). In 1909, he published a portfolio of Autolithographs containing ten charts devoted mainly to the monuments of Cracow. His lithographs were also included in several group portfolios: Graphic Portfolio of the Group of Five (1908), Graphic Portfolio 1 (1909), Krakow 1911 (1911), portfolio Krakow; 6 Autolithographs (after 1926) and portfolio Old Krakow in copperplate (1939). Numerous works by the artist are in the collections of the National Museums in Cracow and Warsaw, among others.
