Biogram
Painter and sculptor. In 1896 - 1900 he studied at the department of ornamental woodcarving at the Vocational School of Wood Industry. Between 1901 and 1906 he took further studies with Konstanty Laszczka at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, and later studied in Vienna.
Rykała considered himself primarily a painter, creating almost exclusively Tatra landscapes, in which his contemporary art critics saw a strong influence of the art of Jan Stanislawski. He worked in a variety of artistic techniques: oil painting, watercolor, pastels, ink drawings. His oeuvre also includes works with motifs of Cracow and sea views. He devoted much less time to sculpture, however, in this field he achieved a very high artistic level.
He exhibited primarily in Zakopane, including with the 'Podhale Art' Society and the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts.
