Biography
Painter active in the circle of the Munich School, inspired by the work of Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski. His biography remains shrouded in mystery to this day. Researchers still argue about many issues related to his artistic career and fate. There have been various hypotheses, according to which the artist was identified with Wierusz-Kowalski himself, as well as with Franciszek Bujakiewicz. Nevertheless, attribution issues aside, the works signed with this initial and surname are characterized by great technical proficiency and panache. The speeding carriages, horse-drawn carriages and daring sledges usually set in winter scenery show an obvious connection with 19th-century painting of the circle of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, as well as with the Polish artistic colony there.
