Henryk Rauchinger (1958 - ca. 1942) Polish painter associated with the Viennese artistic community. Between 1878 and 1879 he studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts under Jan Matejko. He then continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where his teachers were August Eisenmenger and Christian Griepenkerl. He furthered his education in Italy, where he took part in plein-air art exhibitions and training. After settling permanently in Austria, he became a member of the Vienna Society of Artists in 1899, and later of the Austrian Artists' Association "Künstlerhaus." Unfortunately, after the annexation of the Federal State of Austria to the Third Reich, he was persecuted by the Nazi authorities because he belonged to Freemasonry. He died in the Terezin concentration camp during World War II.
