Henryk Epstein (born 1891 in Lodz, died 1944 probably in Auschwitz) - Polish painter and printmaker of Jewish origin, active in France, belonging to École de Paris. Henryk Epstein's initial work bore traces of the influence of Post-Impressionism and the paintings of Paul Gauguin. Subsequent periods included Fauvism, Expressionism and Cubism. Henry Epstein painted still lifes, nudes, figural compositions and landscapes. Many of his paintings are genre compositions in which he immortalized fishermen, peasants and urban semi-literals. He was also involved in illustrating books, including Gustave Coquiot's Vagabondages and Pierre Bonardi's Les Rois du maquis.
