The present canvas finds iconographic and style correspondences with the works of Jacob Van Ruisdael, who painted the same subject in 1665. Here you can appreciate the taste for the picturesque, the atmospheric sensitivity, and the ability to evoke Arcadian scenarios with a seventeenth-century savor.
